Douglas L. Brown-Chairman & CEO DLB Capital
Doug Brown has spent more than 25 years advising financial services companies at the CEO level concerning corporate financial issues such as restructuring, raising capital, and the monetization of key assets.
In 2006, he retired from Morgan Stanley and formed DLB Capital in order to apply his expertise and strategic experience to the development and formation of startup companies. His focus is in underserved areas within the financial services industry. Doug has successfully started and secured funding for three such startups. He served as the Non-Executive Chairman of all three and is integrally involved in their development and growth.
One, Hightower Advisors, is in the United States, while two of his companies are in China. These are China Rapid Finance and Harvest Technology.
Prior to the formation of DLB Capital, he was Vice Chairman of Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley with a wide range of responsibilities on the investment banking side of the firm. During his tenure at Morgan Stanley, he advised on over $80 billion in transactions and was integral in growing the Financial Services practice to over $1 billion in annual revenue. He was responsible for both the organization and execution of his transactions. While at Morgan Stanley, he served as Co-Head of the Global Financial Institutions Group, Head of the Global Insurance Group, Head of the Client Diagnostic Group, Head of Firm Relationship Management, and a leader of the firm's China Financial Institutions Privatization initiatives.
Prior to Morgan Stanley, Doug was an Executive Director with First Boston, specializing in Corporate Finance and M&A in their Global Insurance Group. Earlier, he was with GE Credit in strategic planning (with a focus on acquisitions and business planning) and ran its Leveraged Sale-Leaseback program. He began his career at The Bank of New York in commercial lending. He is a member of the Board of Transamerica, China Risk Finance, and Hightower Advisors. He was also Non-Executive Chairman of Hightower Advisors from 2007 to 2011.
Jeremiah L. Thomas III
Jerry Thomas was a partner at the law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP from 1979 through 2007. He concentrated on general corporate, securities, and banking law matters and was in charge of managing the firm's relationship with JP Morgan Chase.
Jerry joined Simpson Thacher in 1972 and became a partner in 1979. He was a long-time member of the firm's executive committee and was one of the firm's administrative partners from 1992 to 1995. At Simpson Thacher, Jerry represented JPMorgan Chase on a regular basis in its corporate activities and as issuer's counsel for its securities issuances. He also represented major underwriters in connection with public offerings and Rule 144A/Reg S offerings of debt and equity securities by investment grade and high yield issuers in a variety of industries.
Mr. Thomas has served as legal counsel to The Metropolitan Golf Association since 1983. He is also a trustee of The Chapin School in New York City. He received his B.A. with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1968, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1972.
